Chrome's open-source foundation, Chromium, spreads Google PWA technology to a host of other browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Samsung Internet and Brave that also use Chromium. That dominance is cemented by the fact that it's the default browser on billions of phones running Android, Google's mobile operating system. Its Chrome browser accounts for 65% of web usage, according to analytics firm StatCounter. Google has power to turn its plans into reality. Fugu's goal: " Web apps should be able to do anything native apps can." Google, the champion of web apps, leads a project called Fugu that aims to expand browser abilities. "What you're seeing is the tension between what is good for the user, which is to have a flexible experience, and what's good for the platform, which is to keep you in the platform as much as possible," said Mozilla Chief Technology Officer Eric Rescorla. A web app will work anywhere, making it easier to swap out a Windows laptop for an iPad. Web apps, on the other hand, reinforce the web's strength as a software foundation controlled by no single company. Choosing native apps steers us to a world where we're locked into either iOS or Android, limited to software approved by the companies' app stores and their rules. How it plays out will shape what kind of a digital world we live in. The split over native apps and web apps is more than just a squabble between tech giants trying to convert our lives online into their profits. Starbucks saw its website usage double after it rolled out a PWA. PWA fans include Uber, travel site Trivago and India e-commerce site Flipkart. You can launch PWAs from an icon on your phone home screen or PC start menu, and they can prod you with push notifications and synchronize data in the background for fast startup. PWAs work even when you have no network connection. Google leads a collection of heavy-hitting allies, including Microsoft and Intel, trying to craft new technology called progressive web apps, which look and feel like native apps but are powered by the web. It wants a web that isn't plagued by security risks, privacy invasion and annoyances like unwanted notifications and permission pop-ups. Apple, whose Safari browser lacks some of those abilities, believes its restraint will keep the web healthy. Google, working to pack its dominant Chrome browser with web programming abilities, sees the web as an open place of shared standards. Google and Apple have philosophical differences, too. The two camps aren't simply protecting their businesses. Apple, unsurprisingly, appears less excited about developments, like web apps, that could cut into its earnings. Its profits depend on those products and the millions of apps that run on them. The company revolutionized mobile computing with its iPhone line. Front and center are web apps, interactive websites with the same power as conventional apps that run natively on operating systems like Windows, Android, MacOS and iOS.Īpple has a different vision of the future, one that plays to its strengths. So it isn't a surprise that Google sees the web as key to the future of software. The company depends on the web for search and advertising revenue. Google was born on the web, and its business reflects its origin. How that plays out may determine the future of the web. Google and Apple, which already battle over mobile operating systems, are opening a new front in their fight.

Im doing some comparison reviews of different Helmet intercoms/Bluetooth headsets. Still have to figure out what to do with the driver cb push-to-talk button not working. Bluetooth Headset Comparison Reviews Discussion in Equipment started by teizgirl, Jun 17, 2011. We both wear full face helmets so there was no issue with wind noise on the mics. It was real nice being able to talk without shouting and trying to turn my head around backward and saying "What?" "What?" The cheapo chatterbox headsets are good enough for talking but for me, not good for music. Sidenote: my wife and I used the intercom for the first time today about 130 miles. This radio technology allows unlimited amount of riders to communicate together up to a 5. We offer main communication units for all types of riders and riding levels. As it turned out all I had to do was scrape/sand the 5 pins in the passenger headset connector (the one by the side of the passenger seat) as they were oxidized so badly that there was no connection. 222 views, 1 likes, 0 comments, 0 shares, Facebook Reels from Chatterbox USA The X2 Slim-p is our latest GMRS/FRS radio helmet communicator. Well I got the rear intercom working I removed the trunk and seats to check wire connections and noticed one of the plug-ins under the seat is the same 5-pin as intercom so I pulled it apart and plugged the Chatterbox directly into it and it worked. Shown in this photo from around 1887 are the Silver Springs Hotel and the tracks and cars of the Florida Railway and Navigation Company. The post office closed in 1867, reopened in 1872, and closed for good in 1916. Silver Springs opened its first post office in 1852 when it was a stage stop along the route from Palatka to Tampa. The community grew up around the spring in central Marion County, later the site of amusement parks. It provides crystal-clear water at the head of the Silver River, east of the intersection of SR 40 and NE 55th Avenue east of Ocala. The town of Silver Springs was named after the state’s largest spring, first reported by Colonel Gad Humphreys in 1825. Shown here in 1913 is the Florida Lime Company Plant Number 3 in Zuber. Zuber had its own post office for only 10 years, from 1907 until 1917, when mail service shifted to Kendrick. The town of Zuber was located along CR 25A between Ocala and Reddick, and was named for a local family. Years later, it ceased to be a separate community, and its remaining buildings were absorbed into an Ocala neighborhood. In 1938, the National Youth Administration used it as a girls’ resident camp, and in 1943 it passed back to the Corps of Engineers. After that project was canceled, Camp Roosevelt was operated by the University of Florida and the Works Progress Administration for adult education classes. A post office opened that year to serve crews from the Army Corps of Engineers who arrived to construct the Cross Florida Barge Canal. In 1935, a new settlement was established along US 301/441, named Camp Roosevelt after the then-president. The post office was open from 1882 until 1947, when it moved south on US 441 to McIntosh, the town that shared a cemetery with Boardman. After the 1894-95 freeze, it had a population of only 15. Boardman, this town was served by the railroad shown in this 1880s photo. Nearby was this oil derrick photographed in 1928, belonging to the Flesher Petroleum Company.įounded in 1863 and believed to have been named for an early settler, L. This town was located along US 27 at the intersection with CR 464B in western Marion County and was connected to Ocala by a pony express mail route in the 1880s. In the 1970s, federal termination of the Cross Florida Barge Canal project and the proposed recreational facility in Eureka killed the town’s chances of making a comeback. Near Eureka, a large hydroelectric dam and power plant was planned during the 1920s, but the advent of the Great Depression killed the project before construction began. The section passing by Eureka was the narrowest part of the Oklawaha River, Cypress Gate, and it determined the maximum width of the steamboats constructed especially for that river. Pictured here in 1892 is a steamboat taking on wood as fuel at the Eureka landing. Near the Oklawaha River, along CR 316 east of Fort McCoy, was the town of Eureka, from the Greek term meaning “I have found it.” Its post office operated from 1873 until 1955, then moved to Citra. This photo from around 1910 shows the employees of the Weaver Loughridge Lumber Company sawmill located in Boyd. It was located along the Norfolk Southern Railroad track where CR 140 (Boyd Road) crosses it just west of US 221. Boyd and had its own post office from only 1891 until 1895. It's especially the case for employers who either feel as if they feel guilty of overworking their employees, or feel as if their employees are not pitching in their fair share and up to the task. Some people might even consider habitual use highly annoying. You'll encounter it from time to time in business settings being used like that, but like Scott said in his comment it's informal. In this case, I'd make a small wager that she's saying it in an exasperated way, as if the breath has been stolen right out of her because of how very busy and possibly even frustratingly fatigued she is. One of Barney the Dinosaur's catchphrases is "Super-Dee-Duper!", as if to intensify the sentiment even further. UNDP is committed to stand with the people of Sri Lanka in this time of need.” The platform will provide full transparency over the use of funds, to ensure that these contributions will go exactly where they are needed. Kanni Wignaraja, UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific: “The ‘Rebuild Sri Lanka’ platform will enable people from across the globe to directly support vulnerable families in Sri Lanka through the procurement of critical medical supplies and strengthened food security efforts. Most importantly, your generosity will not only give Sri Lankans access to medicines and food but also the much needed hope with which they can rebuild a future for themselves! Your contributions will be used to aid the current shortage in essential and non-essential medical supplies, to procure seeds for farmers for harvesting, and to create materials to encourage home gardening activities among families. Through the Rebuild Sri Lanka platform, you can contribute $5, $15 or more to support the healthcare and food sectors. This initiative invites people from all across the world to donate and provide relief for vulnerable people in Sri Lanka. So, if you’re wondering how you can contribute, we have just the thing! UNDP Sri Lanka has launched the Rebuild Sri Lanka, an individual crowdfunding platform. Your support could help us save hundreds of lives around the country. We all can play our part in helping those who are most vulnerable and in need. That means we need your help to help Sri Lankans rebuild!īe a part of the solution and Rebuild Sri Lanka Global support is needed to rebuild this island nation. These distressing conditions are making communities increasingly vulnerable. Supply chains have been disrupted, certain essential and non-essential medicines have become scarce and difficult to purchase, and as a result, at certain instances, some routine surgeries have been delayed throughout the nation as well. The health and food sectors are two of the most heavily affected sectors by this crisis. Which sectors have been most impacted by the economic crisis in Sri Lanka? Here we aim to break down the issue and also showcase the ongoing efforts to alleviate the crisis which we hope you can contribute to. Millions have been affected – with 5.7 million people in desperate need of humanitarian assistance and almost 6.3 million Sri Lankans not knowing where their next meal will come from.Īs conditions continue to remain dire, at UNDP, among other efforts, we have created a crowdfunding campaign to support the Sri Lanka population. This is the worst crisis that the country has faced since 1948. Sri Lanka, an island known as the jewel of the Indian Ocean, is currently facing a serious economic crisis.
It's also extremely gory, with graphic torture and murder, and very convincing voice work for the children's screams and pleading as they're suffering. I like the original school still existing in a parallel dimension (feels very Silent Hill). Ratings for all 4 episodes, Ep 1 ~ 7/10 Ep 2 ~ 6/10 Ep 3 ~ 6/10' Ep 4 ~ 7/10 I like the setup, with the original murders and the urban legend that's grown up around them. This OVA is a middle finger to the fans of this series. Hell read the manga, it may be incomplete but those 36 chapters are better than this 4 episode OVA. Other than that to those curious about it, avoid it like the plague and watch/play the game it's much more satisfying. The best thing about this series is it's animation which is beautiful. To my understanding the mini-series follows a majority of the "wrong endings" of the game but when making a series for the fans I'm sure they'd appreciate the main ending more. It moved at a good pace in the game but it goes a mile a minute here with no explanation to some actions. The characters are ones that are very easy to like and the story albeit depressing works phenomenally and keeps you interested. The character of Yuka was a sweet, adorable, and innocent girl (brutally stabbed to death by an anatomical model), Yoshiki was the mandatory badass of the group (died protecting Ayumi), and Satoshi was a bit of a coward but could summon his bravery when he needed (just dies in the end with no explanation whatsoever). The characters in the game were very well developed, very likable, and you got invested and could relate to them and to see them be killed in the gruesome manner it was its almost unwatchable. The biggest problem I have is that it kills off every character except Ayumi & Naomi. I have no problem with seeing the insides of a person, I had to dissect a fetile pig and cat in high school and I've seen surgery on animals up close and in person. The gore is over the top with a title like corpse party you'd expect it, but when it goes to gallons of blood squirting out thats way to excessive (there were points in the game that had a lot of gore but those scenes called for it, while here it's over every little thing). What makes this OVA a failure is that it's rushed, it's condensed into 4 episodes with no way to develop the characters (you pretty much have to play the games to know or care about them). Yui is decapitated, which leads me to saying this anime IS NOT for the faint of heart). Yui sacrifices herself to save Ayumi and falls to her death (in this ova Sakuroto is brutally stabbed in the neck and bleeds out, while Ms. So they have to escape the school but unfortunately in the true ending of the game only Satoshi, Yuka, Naomi, Ayumi, & Yoshiki survive as the rest are killed: Seiko is hung by a possessed Naomi, Mayu is thrown into a wall and pulverized by 2 of the ghost kids, Sakuroto committed suicide upon learning of Mayu's death, and Ms. However the group of 9 have been separated as the school is made of closed spaces (they're in the same school but different versions shaped by the ghost of 3 kids who attended the school and were murdered there). But after doing the charm they're whisk away to an abandoned elementary school that is FILLED with ghost and corpses of those brought to the school. The charm is one thats supposed to bring all 9 of them together so that no matter where they go in life they'll always be friends. The 9 of them have finished their schools annual Cultural Festival and are about to head home when Ayumi suggest they do a charm called "Sachiko Ever After". Yui, & Yuka (Satoshi's younger middle school sister). The game follows 7 high school students: Satoshi, Yoshiki, Ayumi, Naomi, Seiko, Mayu, & Sakuroto, their teacher Ms. This OVA/mini-series is based off of the game "Corpse Party: Blood Covered Repeated" which was a remake of the original Corpse Party of 1996 and another in 2008. Now I only JUST found out about this series last month. Within a CIF, each block code should be unique and no two data blocks can have the same block code. The block code is a name string for the data to help identify the structure. A CIF can contain multiple data blocks.Ī data block begins with the string ‘data_’ to signify the start of the structural information. The information for one structure/experiment is called a data block. We will describe it in the following section. The CIF contains the crystallographic information for a structure in a well-defined and standardised format. enCIFer syntax checking is also embedded into the CCDCs online deposition service enabling you to check and correct the format of your CIFs as well as enhance your datasets during the deposition process.įurther information about enCIFer, including a user guide and tutorials, can be found here. enCIFer can also identify syntax violations and contains two data entry wizards: one for experimental data about your structure and the other for publication details, to help you ensure you’ve provided as much information as possible about your structure. The CCDC has a free CIF reader and editor called enCIFer, which has some handy additional features such as colour coding, syntax checking and the ability to visualise the structural information in 3D. CIFs can also be read by humans in many text editors. Many crystallographic programs can read and extract information from a CIF. The CIF format was specifically designed to be readable by both humans and machines. When producing a CIF, it is important to include as much information about your structure in your CIF to ensure your data is reproducible. This is the data that the crystal structure model is refined against, which comes from the processing of the experimental diffraction data or images. Most CIFs deposited to the CCDC also contain reflection intensity data (or. However, some items may not be included in the CIF as they are not relevant to a particular experiment or may be missed by the program (if they are included in log files created by other programs that were not kept in the final refinement folder or if the refinement package being used does not check them when compiling the final CIF). Many crystallographic programs include most information automatically when the CIF is made. The material that is included within a CIF varies and depends on what information the authors of the structure incorporated, as well as the technique and program used. What is in a CIF? What kind of information can I find in the CIF?Ī CIF contains information about the crystal structure (such as unit cell values, atom names and their coordinates and any structural model quality indicators, e.g., R Factor) as well as any details of the diffraction experiment (such as temperature, pressure, experimental wavelength and the type and name of equipment used) and any data processing undertaken (such as the programs used to process the data). However, being able to read and find information within a CIF is useful and can help you ensure you provide complete crystallographic information for your structures, as well as interrogate the data of others. CIF information has a specific structure or format that needs to be followed to allow crystallographic programs to read the file.ĬIFs are usually created automatically by the program used to process or refine crystallographic data this means it is very unlikely that you will need to create a CIF from scratch (and we don’t recommend editing CIFs by hand). A CIF or Crystallographic Information File is the standard format for storing crystallographic structural data. |
